ITINERARY OF THE EXCURSION TO CÓRDOBA FROM SEVILLE

   The visit focuses on the Mezquita-Catedral de Córdoba, beginning with the surroundings of the Patio de los Naranjos before entering the monument. Once inside, the tour advances through the foundational mosque of Abderramán I, where the first naves of the building are preserved, the superimposition of horseshoe and round arches, the alternation of stone and brick, and the archaeological remains linked to the former San Vicente complex.

   The route then passes through the extensions that shaped the temple during the Umayyad period. In the section from Abderramán II, you can appreciate the building's growth towards the south and the first maqsura. Further on appears the richest part of the Islamic ensemble, corresponding to Al-Hakam II, with the lantern dome, the Mihrab decorated with Byzantine tesserae, the Puerta del Tesoro and the former sabat that connected the sacred space with the caliphal palace.

   The tour also allows you to see the extension by Almanzor, recognisable by its new naves towards the east, and understand how the mosque reached its greatest extent before the Christian conquest of Córdoba. The visit then enters the great later transformation of the building, when in the 16th century the cathedral crossing was erected in the centre of the former Islamic prayer hall.

   In this last part, you'll explore some of the most representative spaces from the Christian period, such as the High Altar, the Choir Stalls and the chapels integrated into the complex. The visit brings together in a single itinerary the main historical phases of the Mezquita-Catedral, from its Islamic origins to the incorporation of the Renaissance cathedral within.
